Dust and Sky catches an elephant mid-ritual, trunk curled high overhead as a fresh cloud of dust settles across its back. Dust-bathing is practical behavior — a coat of dry earth to guard against sun and insects — but photographed at this exact moment, backlit and drifting against a wall of dark forest, it reads as something closer to ceremony. The dust hangs in the air with real weight and texture, each particle catching just enough light to separate it from the black canopy behind.
The elephant's skin carries its own landscape of texture — every crease and fold rendered in sharp, tactile detail, a record of decades in a single hide. The raised trunk, curled at the tip like a question mark, gives the whole gesture a sense of triumph rather than routine, as if the dust bath were a performance rather than a habit.
