Storm Over Metropolis frames the town's namesake guardian — the towering Superman statue that has stood watch over Metropolis, Illinois since the town declared itself his official hometown — at the exact moment a summer storm rolled in overhead. Shot low and close, the statue fills the frame against a brick courthouse building and a sky torn open by lightning, the pose reading less like a photograph of a statue and more like an origin panel pulled from a comic page.
The color treatment leans directly into that comic-book identity rather than working against it. Bold, separated primaries in the suit and cape, clean graphic edges along the statue's silhouette, and a saturated, stormlit sky push the image toward illustration without losing the specificity of place — the real brick, the real courthouse cornice, the real tree caught in the same gust as the storm front.
