Paint Louis 2024
Paint Louis 2024 continued my exploration of the changing environment surrounding the floodwall along the Mississippi River in St. Louis.
Rather than approaching the project as straightforward documentation, I focused on the atmosphere created around the work itself: unfinished murals, layered paint, shifting weather, reflections after rain, and the interaction between artists, spectators, and the industrial riverfront landscape.
Many of the photographs center on transitional moments—spaces between activity where the scale and temporary nature of the project become more visible. Artists pause between gestures, walls remain partially completed, crowds disperse, and changing light alters both the artwork and the surrounding environment throughout the day.
The photographs from 2024 continue my broader interest in ambiguity, atmosphere, and environments shaped by traces of human presence. Together, the images explore the relationship between public art, architecture, and the evolving visual identity of St. Louis.
