Amber Morning In the quiet, low-light hours of the morning, my garden transforms into a theater of soft reflections and hidden life. Amber Morning captures a singular moment of stillness in my own garden—a fragile, young duckling resting upon a broad, textured water lily pad. I was drawn to the interplay of light as it danced across the water, catching the delicate, golden-hued edges of the leaves and the gentle ripples surrounding the subject. Influenced by the observational honesty of Andrew Wyeth and the cinematic warmth of Ernest Haas, this piece is a meditation on the peaceful coexistence between the garden's wild inhabitants and their lush, sheltered environment.
Broad lily pads shed water and hold morning light on their surface, which is why the pad seems to glow. The duckling's small weight and the pad's wide, textured surface make a natural, quiet stage.
