Pale aspen trunks rise through the frame as vertical streaks of light and motion, the forest around them dissolved into rhythm rather than record. The eye doesn't land on any single tree — it moves with the blur itself, up through a deepened canopy of green and shadow, catching fragments of blue sky between the trunks. There is no subject here in the usual sense. The movement is the subject.
This is intentional camera movement, not a technical accident — the same impulse that led Ernst Haas, late in his career, to abandon the sharp document in favor of color and motion as their own form of seeing. Where Ansel Adams sought the mountain rendered in total clarity, this image asks a different question: what does a place feel like when you're moving through it rather than standing still in front of it.
