Iron Cathedral
Two massive rusted steel tanks rise like sentinels on either side of a narrow passage, their weathered surfaces streaked with decades of oxidation — deep magenta and violet tones bleeding into pale, salt-worn steel at the top, giving way to solid bands of burnt orange and umber rust below. A third cylindrical form stands centered in the distance, glimpsed through the gap like an altar at the end of a nave, its surface catching the same rose and crimson patina as the walls that frame it.
The composition draws the eye straight down the corridor these structures create, the converging lines of the tanks' curves echoing the soaring verticals of a cathedral interior — hence the title. Still water at the base mirrors the rusted walls and the glow of orange above, doubling the sense of scale and stillness. What could easily read as industrial decay instead takes on a reverent, almost sacred quality: light falling into the passage like it's finding its way into a nave, and the corrosion itself becoming a kind of stained-glass palette — rose, violet, amber — applied by time rather than by hand.
