After the Heat

from $65.00

Cropped to the upper half alone, After the Heat isolates a sunflower's center and inner petals just after a summer storm has passed — beads of water still clinging to the seed head and petal edges, catching what light breaks through the surrounding shadow. The tighter frame strips away everything but the essential structure: deep textures, radiating geometry, and the small, discovered detail of droplets resting exactly where gravity and surface tension have left them.

Bathed in low, directional light, the composition holds a rich, saturated warmth against pockets of near-black shadow — the droplets themselves becoming tiny points of cool reflected light within an otherwise entirely warm palette. Strongly influenced by the raw formal precision of Edward Weston and the deep, soulful tonal values of traditional printmaking, the image explores persistence and quiet resilience — a flower past its peak, still holding its structure, still catching water and light.

Design & Styling

The seed head and water-beaded petals of After the Heat give a small wall a rich, textured warmth for kitchens, studies, offices, and dining rooms. It suits deep neutral walls where the gold can glow.

Curated Pairings

To build a warm-toned display around the garden after weather, consider these companion pieces:

For tonal harmony: Pair with Gold Inversion, mirroring the vibrant, sun-drenched warm tones.

For textural contrast: Complement the complex detail with The Long Way Across, echoing the intricate macro detail found throughout the collection.

For the same amber-gold warmth: Pair with Gold and Ember, where a yellow peony gives way to a flame-red center: the same warm palette with fire at its core.

Fine Art Presentation

Available as a signed fine art print on ChromaLuxe® Metal (gloss, semi-gloss, or matte), Glossy Anti-Glare Acrylic (TruLife), canvas, wood, and archival paper (framed or unframed). ChromaLuxe® Metal is the recommended presentation: it keeps the seed head pattern and the water droplets crisp against the deep surrounding shadow. Acrylic is the alternative for extra depth.

Note: Custom and oversized photographic prints are available. Please contact the studio directly to discuss custom framing, matting, or specialized museum glass options.
