Between Storm and Evening is an atmospheric study of weather, light, and the fleeting moments that transform a familiar city into something extraordinary. Photographed along Prague's Vltava River as a summer storm moved through the city, the image captures a brief rainbow emerging from a sky still heavy with rain while evening light illuminated the historic architecture below.
The composition is anchored by a band of soft color descending from the clouds toward the city, creating a visual connection between sky, river, and architecture. The warm tones of the rainbow echo the fading sunlight reflected across the rooftops and facades, while the darker water and storm-softened sky preserve the sense of weather still lingering over the scene. Rather than presenting Prague as a collection of landmarks, the photograph focuses on atmosphere and transition—the quiet interval between rainfall and nightfall when the city seems suspended between two moods.
Drawing inspiration from the color sensibilities of Ernst Haas and the observational approach of Wim Wenders, the image explores the emotional character of place through weather, light, and timing. It is less a photograph of a rainbow than a photograph of a city emerging from a storm.
