Between Storm and Evening
Description
Between Storm and Evening
Between Storm and Evening is an atmospheric study of weather, light, and the fleeting moments that transform a familiar city into something extraordinary. Photographed along Prague's Vltava River as a summer storm moved through the city, the image captures a brief rainbow emerging from a sky still heavy with rain while evening light illuminated the historic architecture below.
The composition is anchored by a band of soft color descending from the clouds toward the city, creating a visual connection between sky, river, and architecture. The warm tones of the rainbow echo the fading sunlight reflected across the rooftops and facades, while the darker water and storm-softened sky preserve the sense of weather still lingering over the scene. Rather than presenting Prague as a collection of landmarks, the photograph focuses on atmosphere and transition—the quiet interval between rainfall and nightfall when the city seems suspended between two moods.
Drawing inspiration from the color sensibilities of Ernst Haas and the observational approach of Wim Wenders, the image explores the emotional character of place through weather, light, and timing. It is less a photograph of a rainbow than a photograph of a city emerging from a storm.
Design & Styling
With its soft palette of rose, violet, and warm architectural tones, Between Storm and Evening works especially well in hospitality environments, executive offices, healthcare spaces, libraries, and contemporary residential interiors. The image introduces color and atmosphere without becoming overwhelming, creating a calming visual presence that rewards extended viewing.
Curated Pairings
To create a cohesive gallery wall, consider these companion pieces from the European Texture & Light and Color & Atmosphere collections:
When the City Held Its Breath — shares the same Prague setting and weather-driven atmosphere, capturing the city beneath approaching storm clouds.
Before the City Wakes — complements the contemplative mood through its focus on rain, architecture, and early morning discovery.
Under the Crossing — extends the themes of water, reflection, and the relationship between weather and the urban environment.
Reflections in Glass and Stone — pairs naturally through its emphasis on structure, light, and visual rhythm within the city.
Fine Art Presentation
Available as a signed fine art print in metal, framed paper, framed canvas, and acrylic presentation formats. Satin Metal or Semi-Matte Metal presentation is recommended to preserve the subtle color transitions within the sky while maintaining detail throughout the architecture and reflections on the river.
Note: Larger and custom gallery sizing may be available. If custom-scale photographic prints are required for your space, please contact us to discuss specialized framing, installation considerations, and presentation options.
